Global Recycles Day

Global Recycles Day

Global Recycling Day is an annual event celebrated on March 18 to raise    awareness about the importance of recycling and encourage people around the world to view waste as a valuable resource. It was established in 2018 by the Global Recycling Foundation to promote the idea that recycling is a key part of protecting the planet’s natural resources and combating climate change. The day highlights the concept of the “Seventh Resource” recyclables  which should be treated with the same importance as the Earth’s six primary natural resources: water, air, oil, natural gas, coal, and minerals.

Each year, Global Recycling Day focuses on a specific theme, such as innovation in recycling, youth involvement, or the role of recycling in creating a sustainable future. Around the world, communities, schools, and organizations host clean-up drives, educational campaigns, and recycling initiatives to mark the day. More information on Global Recycles Day can be found here.

In honor of the Global Recycles Day, OKRA is hosting a coloring contest for school aged kids to help them learn about recycling and sustainability through Art.
